As of today, March 21, 2025, London's Heathrow Airport is closed due to a significant power outage caused by a fire at a nearby electrical substation in Hayes, West London. The closure began early this morning and is expected to last until 2359hrs (GMT) on the 21st of March.

This incident has led to the cancellation or diversion of over 1,300 flights, affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers worldwide, including Dubai. Flights en-route to Heathrow have been redirected to other airports, including Gatwick, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Shannon in Ireland.
